Linda Vista in Argentina - Ski !
A simple inn in El Calafate that arranges adventure excursions. Typical Day: The excursion begins at the "Puerto Bajos Las Sombras " about 6 km, before the glaciers Balconies-where you will take a boat across the Rico Arm of Lago Argentino. Affter disembarking on the opposite shore, specialized mountain guides will wellcome you and lead you to a small shelter. Groups of 10 people will follow the guides along the lake shore towards the edge of the glacier. Once on the ice the guides strap crampons on each participant, and explain their use. The two hours circuit that follows introduces you to the fascinating landscape of the glaciers: small lagoons, gullies and plenty of ice formations of the most incredible blues. The trekking is moderate.The ice surface over which you walk is irregular, but firm and safe. After the walk, a stroll through the forest brings you back to the shelter. Land transportation for El Calafate is available if required, and it includes a 60 minutes visit to the Glaciar Balconies.All these services are provided daily. Activities are permanently supervised by bilingual mountain guides.

Khan Tengri in Kirgyzstan
The mountains in this remote area of Asia are Himalayan in stature, with the highest peak reaching 7443m. They form the rigid backbone of Kyrgyzstan, wedged between China and Kazakstan. Our exhilarating journey to Base Camp is initially taken by helicopter up the Inylchek Glacier. At close proximity, you will fly through a vast panorama of classical glaciated and jagged peaks. Our initial period of acclimatisation will be spent practicing glacial skills, overlooked by the most northerly 7000m peaks in the world. We will aim to climb on two or three separate peaks in this remarkable region. At 6200m, Peak Chapayev remains our main objective and we share our route with those attempting to summit the majestic Khan Tengri. The ascent involves establishing two camps en route, but our approach will be richly rewarded with a vista of tremendous proportions. With our ambition achieved, we can gaze across to the jewel of the Tien Shan itself; Khan Tengri, its elegant ridges and pyramidal peak elevates its beauty to that of the distinguished profiles of Ama Dablam and the Matterhorn.
Fox Glacier in New Zealand
From Chancellor Hut, the route ascends through snowgrass basins to a spot known as "Point A", where a glorious view of Mt Tasman appears. Here your guide will organise you for a safe ascent of the gully. This gully gives access to a broad ridge and a beautiful snow shelf below the summit of Chancellor Dome. A highlight is the final ascent to the summit at 2,004 metres (6,526 feet). This climb, takes you to the point that affords the best view of the Southern Alps highest peaks and the magnificent snowfields that feed the Fox Glacier. To the west, you see the surf of the Tasman Sea breaking on Gillespies Beach.
